Local Diving
White Star Quarry in Gibsonburg, Ohio is another place we do training. Southeast of Toldeo and about 90 minutes from the shop, it offers up to 75 foot depth and the ability to explore many sunken artifacts.
Portage Quarry in Bowling Green, OH (and also about 90 minutes away) is the main location for our DPV (Diver Propulsion Vehicle) training. With depth about 55 feet, several boats, planes and other artifacts are ready to explore.
Union Lake has some small wrecks in shallow water and depth down to 110 feet.
Four Fathoms Diving in Port Sanilac provides us charter boat diving in Sanilac Shores Shipwreck Preserve. With more than a dozen shipwrecks in water from 15 feet to over 100 feet, it’s always a treat to explore Michigan’s marine heritage at the bottom of Lake Huron.
The St. Clair River from Port Huron to Marine City offers prime drift diving, or just exploring for lost and discarded artifacts. Downstream from the Blue Water Bridge are several popular dives on wrecks caused by the fast and tricky currents. Or, you can start just above the outlet to Lake Huron and go for a ripping ride under the bridge itself.
For any diving you don’t already personally know, you should consider becoming familiar with the site and conditions by accompanying a diver knowledgeable with the site on a Discover Local Diving program.
